Reunion and For the Don: two Descended from the Queen games I recently played
Context and mini-review:
- Minimal prior experience with For the Queen / Descended from the Queen.
- Enjoyed both, would play again.
Reunion
- There's no reason you have to play this as X-Men, but we basically played as X-Men.
- We played as a table of two -- just me and a scene partner. We took every opportunity to play out the conversation between our characters rather than simply answering the prompts.
- When I could not figure out how to work an exact prompt into the scene, I got as close as I could to hinting at the topic and then showed my prompt card to my scene partner, who responded as if I had asked the question. This became a technique we both used.
For the Don
- Our table consisted of two adults and two children, one of whom either didn't buy in or didn't understand the premise of the game. The other adult at the table did an excellent job of including and supporting both kids. I... well, I tried, and I had fun without ruining anyone else's fun.
- Would like to play the game in a manner that is closer to the designer's intent.
